Consultation summary:

Devon Local Authority are consulting on the proposal to establish a 1,245 place All Through School for pupils aged 3-16 with a 30 full time equivalent place nursery to be implemented in phases with effect from September 2011.
 
Public Information Surgeries are being held on Monday 30 November 2009:

5:00pm - 7:00pm Brixton Community Hall, Elliots Hill, Brixton, PL8 2AG

Background:

In Autumn 2007 Devon Local Authority consulted on the proposal to establish a 1245 place All through School for pupils aged 3-16 with a 30 full time equivalent place Nursery, to be implemented in phases with effect from September 2010.  The phasing was planned to be in line with the rate of house building to serve the new community of Sherford.

This proposal did not progress beyond the consultation to the next stage of public notice due to:

a) investigations as to whether an alternative option proposed by Plymouth City Council was viable; and

b) a delay in the development of Sherford, therefore the school was not required as early as originally envisaged.
It transpired that the alternative option could not be delivered outside of the new school competition process and a start on the development is now expected to commence June 2010.  To ensure that any decision making is based on up-to-date feedback it has been agreed to reopen the consultation with a modified implementation date from September 2010 to September 2011.
