Budget 2010/11 Consultation
Closed Closed
Start: Nov 13, 2009 End: Dec 24, 2009 Results Published: Jan 31, 2010
Subject: Budget and spending, Consultation Reference Number:1276

Consultation summary:

Balancing the budget. People are being invited to have their say on how the Council can save £1 million from its budget through an online budget simulator, the city council's Wavelength panel and at a public event in a vacant shop at 88 Fore Street, next door to Rainbow Toys and Children's Wear and a few doors up from Specsavers, on Saturday 14 November 10.30am-3pm. The budget simulator allows people to decide where they would save money and see the consequences of making the difficult decisions.

Background:

The Council, like all businesses, is being affected by the recession. However, unlike most businesses the Council not only faces a fall in income from the services that bring in money like charging for parking and renting properties, but also a rise in costs for services it provides to people affected by the recession such as processing more benefit claims and helping house more people.

Treasury Services

Purpose:

The views people give through the budget simulator will help inform the Council in its decisions in January.
