Consultation summary:

There's no Doctor and no Tardis to take us there, so Brixham Town Council and The Community Partnership are commencing a Brixham Parish Plan. A Parish Plan will set out a vision for how Brixham wants to develop, and identify what needs to be done to achieve it.

The plan will cover everything that is important to you,
the residents and businesses of Brixham. The Parish Plan will give everyone a chance to say what they think about the social, economic and environmental issues affecting their community, and how they'd like to see it improved in the future.

Background:

Communities everywhere are constantly changing and you cannot prevent change, but what you can do is influence it. Parish Plans help a community to make change happen. It means an opportunity for everyone in the community to make themselves heard. Parish Plans lay out a shared vision for the community and contain a detailed action plan for achieving this vision.  It is up to the community to define the issues to be tackled by a Parish Plan.  It is important that the whole community is involved in producing the plan, not just those people who usually come along to Parish Council or Community Partnership meetings. The plan when completed may highlight actions that can be taken by community members, be used to influence service providers such as your local authority, and act as evidence of need when applying for funding.  It is up to you, the community, to decide what is important to you.

Purpose:

Why Produce a Parish Plan?

As part of its policy of 'active citizenship' the Government wants to give more power to local people to decide what's best for their own communities. If we as a community can show that we are taking our future seriously, a Parish Plan will provide the evidence to help inform policymaking by a range of organisations, from the local planning authority to police and health services. It will also help to develop and maintain effective working relationships with outside bodies that provide services to our community, now or in the future.
Parish and Community Plans, with enthusiasm and determination, can make things happen in our community.
